And is there any way you can top it?

This is an easy one. My greatest achievement has been becoming a father to my two daughters. Woohoo!!!!! Being a Parent is such a blast. It kind of puts you "outside" your self. No easy task for Yours Truly.

I'm a political activist. One of my many causes is the Free Burma movement.

In 1994, I persuaded my Massachusetts state representative, Byron Rushing, to introduce a bill - modeled on an old South Africa-related anti-apartheid bill - that would bar the Massachusetts state government from buying goods or services from companies that do business in Burma.

In 1996, after two years of organizing grassroots support for the bill, Governor Weld signed the bill into law. Later that year, Apple Computer, Eastman Kodak, Hewlett-Packard and Philips Electronics all withdrew from Burma citing the Massachusetts Burma Law as the reason.

In 1997, the European Commission and the Japanese government challenged the law at the World Trade Organization. In 1998, a group of American companies took the law to federal court claiming that it was unconstitutional. The law was struck down by Federal District Court and Federal Appeals Court but Massachusetts appealed the decision to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Om March 22, 2000, I will watch the oral arguments in the case before the Supreme Court. Then I will speak at a rally outside the Supreme Court in support of the law.

It's not every day that a law that helped to enact is the subject of a major constitutional case before the Supreme Court or a challenge at the WTO. I consider that to be one of the major achievements on my life.

Don't ever let anyone tell you that can't change the world.
