Story Filed: Thursday, March 16, 2000 7:55 AM EST

MAR 16, 2000, M2 Communications - The failure of a right engine forced a Cebu Pacific DC-9 aircraft carrying 110 passengers to abort takeoff on 15 March.

The aircraft was preparing to depart from Iloilo city airport in the Central Philippines when the incident occurred. The aborted takeoff saw the aircraft end up with its nose wheel stuck in the mud, which then resulted in authorities closing the airport for one and a half hours according to Xinhua.

No one was hurt in the incident and it is expected that the aircraft will be allowed to fly to Manila after minor repairs and obtaining clearance from Air Transportation Office investigators.
