A power outage hit much of Sea-Tac Airport Wednesday evening, but airport officials say it did not affect systems critical for flight safety.

The outage, lasting about 18 minutes, occurred just after 7:40 p.m. and affected systems ranging from escalators to the baggage- claim belts.

Airport officials told KING-TV that systems such as runway lights and the control tower were not affected.

Airport spokesman Bob Parker said the airport has a plan in place to maintain operations with less than 100 percent power.

The cause of the outage has not been determined.
