WARWICK - A Delta Airlines 737 that took off from T.F. Green Airport Tuesday afternoon made an emergency landing at Logan International Airport in Boston because of smoke in the cabin.
Jim Peters, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration in New York, said the cause of the smoke was a malfunctioning "bleed valve" in one of the two engines, a device that is part of the air- conditioning system.
The pilot shut down that part of the system while en route to Boston "and the smoke dissipated," Peters said.
Delta Flight 2539, bound for Orlando, took off from Green at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and landed without incident in Boston 24 minutes later. The plane taxied to the terminal under its own power, Peters said.
