More insight into next episode (SMALL spoiler)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

My paper gave a good description of this week's show. It says that a reasonably recovered Dr. Carter will attempt to return to work. Carter's first patient is suicidal and he needs to perform an untested procedure on him. Hmmm. His first patient is suicidal? I guess that will play into his emotions too. I hope it's not about his own supposed future suicide attempt. Also, Mark is said to have a hectic day, involving the return of Carter, a fight with his ill father, and searching for a lizard (that last part came out of nowhere!)

Here's a spoiler I got from http://tvschedules.about.com/entertainment/tvschedules/library/shows/b lerep616.htm (thats the full addresse)

6.16 UNDER CONTROL Original Airdate 03-23-00

In pain, Dr. Carter (Noah Wyle) hobbles back on crutches into the ER for the first time since his life- threatening attack and treats an overdosed suicidal patient (guest star Keith Langsdale) with a controversial new procedure, while a besieged Dr. Greene (Anthony Edwards) tries to take charge of a chaotic shift. Among Greene's runaway problems are his cantankerous father (guest star John Cullum) who resists treatment for his lung cancer, a poisonous Gila monster lizard on the loose, and a non-stop torrent of complicated cases, one of which concerns his girlfriend, Dr. Corday's (Alex Kingston), well- meaning attempt to keep a brain-dead accident victim alive long enough to secure permission to harvest his organs. Elsewhere, Abby (Maura Tierney) is devastated when she makes a simple mistake that could cost a terminally ill cancer patient (guest star Cal Gibson) what little time he has left; Dr. Chen (Ming-Na) is distracted by a hunky nurse (guest star Morris Chestnut, "Boyz 'N the Hood") who helps out in between receiving treatment for his own fainting spells; Hathaway (Julianna Margulies) is interrupted by her nanny's calls regarding her crying twins; and Dr. Benton (Eriq La Salle) and Dr. Finch (Michael Michele) enjoy a sensual game of pool.

It is a fairly detailed description I thought. Have Fun.

This sounds like a great, if busy, episode! I *love* Gila monsters, so I hope we get some good close-ups of this lizard and they don't do something stupid like kill it!

Finally planting a seed for Carol's troubles juggling single parenthood and working such a stressful job! I am sure we'll see more of this.

I don't know if anyone cares but I noticed from last week's preview that that is the show they were filming when Rosie was visiting. I remember there was some curiosity a few weeks back. So now we know. :o)

How does mommy Carol afford a nanny on a nurse's income? Hmmm...is daddy Doug sending $$$ to help out? Stay tuned...

-- Bev (bev.burris@eer-h.com), March 20, 2000.

I'm not sure if Mel is asking me or not, but if so. I can tell by the clothes they were wearing.

gila monsters arent poisonous

-- shannon (jferry9@bellsouth.com), March 20, 2000.

To *Bev*: I had a friend who was a nurse-manager and she made upwards of $60,000 per year. Carol's character is an R.N. and has a Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) so she probably makes very good money. But, I sure *hope* Doug is helping!

To *Shannon*: Gila monsters' saliva is toxic to some animals. When they bite into their prey, they hold on and the saliva soaks in and kills the prey. From what I have heard, their saliva isn't poisonous to humans but their bites sure hurt like the hell! :-) (I saw this on a Gila monster special on the Discovery channel)
