The Sukuma Language

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Sukuma Culture : One Thread

Hello, I'd like to know if there is any Sukuma grammar and dictionary available. Also, are there any Sukuma speakers here in England? If so, please e-mail me: ngata@hotmail.com Nowadays, is more being done to encourage literacy in the indigenous languages of Tanzania? after so many years of official neglect.

Hi Andrew. Yes, I was just in Mwanza, Tanzania December and January and have obtained a KiSukuma dictionary and have access to a poor but workable grammar. Give me your address and I'll be glad to mail it to you. I'm moving to Tanzania in August to live. chrisboyce@juno.com

Mr ngata, I cant provide you with a sukuma dictionary. But I'm just so happy to find something about my sukuma tribe on the net. I'm in Canada at the moment about to finish my degree on IDS. I hope I will be in contact with you, so that we can talk a bit about Sukuma and the traditions.
