TOKYO (March 22) XINHUA - A training jet of Japan's Air Self- Defense Force (ASDF) crashed Wednesday in northeastern Japan, killing the pilot, Kyodo News reported.
Local firefighters have found what is believed to be the body of the pilot among the wreckage of the T-2 jet, which crashed in a forested area in Onagawa, Miyagi Prefecture, the report said.
The ASDF said radio contact with the one-man training jet was lost at around 2 p.m. local time (0500 GMT), when the plane was 25 kilometers northeast of the ASDF's Matsushima base, to which it belongs.
