'ER' ACTOR WILL DIRECT 'SOUL FOOD' PILOT: When Eriq LaSalle worked out his last contract for another season on "ER," part of the deal was that he would be able to pursue opport- unities to direct other projects. He's getting one of those opportunities this spring. LaSalle will direct the pilot episode of a new Showtime series, "Soul Food," based on the 1997 movie. The show will tell the story of a black family living in Chicago.
