MOSCOW, Mar 23, 2000 -- (Agence France Presse) Four people were killed and another injured when an explosion in an oxygen company workshop pulverized a building in the central Russian city of Saransk, Russian media reported.
The blast ripped through the building at 12:35 p.m. (0935 GMT) in the city 500 kilometers (300 miles) southeast of Moscow, Russian NTV television reported.
A preliminary probe established that the explosion was caused by improper use of gas fittings, but officials from the emergencies ministry and Federal Security Service (FSB) did not rule out a terrorist link, NTV said.
The Interfax news agency said the building had housed a workshop used by a company called Kislorod (Oxygen). ((c) 2000 Agence France Presse)
