Blink or you would miss it

You guys seem to have an eye for detail which is really interesting (i.e. looks, dialogue that is almost an afterthought, breast pumps, etc.). It thrills me when I catch something oh-so-subtle from the writers but may not have upon first glance. For example, in an episode in the second season right after Carter got back from his summer vacation, he had a voodoo doll that represented Benton. Finally after really paying attention, I noticed when Carter was really upset and started sticking his doll there was a very brief glimpse in the background where a nun walked behind Carter staring at him, apalled. That had me ROTFL. In another scene that season Carter and Benton were talking about a spinal tap for an alcoholic patient (who was right there). You could barely hear the patient but he was muttering dialogue like, [what's on tap?] That had me laughing too. It's the brief, subtle humor I like most where it is not presented exactly to you.

Do you recall any blink-or-you-would-miss-it moments that stick out? Very subtle, not in your face humor?

Speaking of detail, I watched [Primal Fear] on TV again with Maura Tierney. She was looking at a computer list of investors or something for a case. A slight glance of the names showed one to be named Robert Romano. Since she made the movie before ER and I thought it to be a funny coincidence.

This isn't very subtle, but I loved when Doug told Susan that if she were considering violence toward Weaver, to count him in. LoL.

"Blink or you would miss it" <-- Sorry, this was really bothering me, but I believe this cliche to be Blink AND you would miss it. At least it appears to make more sense to me when I think about it.

In [UNDER CONTROL]Maluchi eats his cereal with Carols breast milk but it goes on as a silent gag and they just watch him eat in amusement

I hate sounding like a total snotty-pants, but I'm with you, HC.

[Blink AND you would miss it]. I stand corrected since it is so important to clarify that.

I LOVED that they didn't try to explain the milk/cereal/emesis basin thing to us. I know from my ER work experience that plenty of people do eat out of emesis vasins (vomit bowls) that haven't been used. Some people don't mind, others find the idea gross.

But I especially liked that they let us use our imaginations on the breast milk issue, then dropped it.

I have just recently started watching ER (since All in the Family) and have been trying to catch up by watching the reruns on another channel... so forgive me if I don't have all the terminology correct.

I liked the part in 'Under Control' where Mark & Dr. Chen & Dr. Dave (I'm not if there was anyone else) come out and see a patient being taken for a CT scan (?) before she is released. Mark stops them and puts a stick in her mouth and tells her to bite down hard on it and he tell Dr Chen to twang the end of the stick. He asks the patient if she feels any pain and she says no. Mark then says to cancel the CT scan and Dr. Chen says "is that it?" and Mark says "why spend $800.00 on a test when a simple stick will do the trick".

That just struck me as funny.
