I hope they will last. I think they will. They make a great couple. So far it seems like their parents were more serious than they were! LOL

By "the next Doug and Carol," if you mean that their story will progress only to come crashing down into a million, idiotic pieces with utterly no warning, then I certainly hope not.

They may well be the next "couple" but I can't see them captivating as many people. But, I'm biased, and readily admit it.

There really can't be a "next Doug & Carol," that is one of those rare, magical relationships that come together so perfectly on-screen. GC & JM's chemistry is unmatched, and really cannot be replaced.

Greene and Corday will probably be the next couple, but I will forever want Greene with Lewis, and hope that in the end he can be with Susan.

I love the Mark/Elizabeth relationship. They have great chemistry though it is a different type than Doug/Carol. She makes Mark smile, he makes her laugh. They balance each other, their both very good and dedicated to their professions and are caring. She will be of great support to him when his dad dies. I hope they are together a long time!

I like the pairing of Mark/Elizabeth, although at first, it seemed a bit forced to me. I mean, they were never working together at all (at least not that I can remember) and then there they were...thrown together. But after seeing them together at work and outside of the ER, I can say I rather enjoy them. They seem to have a normal relationship...at least as normal as can be portrayed on tv. Mark doesn't always agree with Elizabeth (the brain-dead patient in the last epi, the reference to their disagreement over his father's cancer). TV relationships seem to always seem to show the good times, and they sometimes only touch on the downsides. (Not all, of course, but I *am* trying to make a point) I really hope that M/E's relationship becomes strained and to a breaking point...but also that they work their way back to each other, showing that they really are committed to each other and not just hopping back in bed to make amends.

Okay, I've babbled enough. Back to lurking status. ~:^)

I agree with Leigh. The only relationship that could hold a candle to Doug/Carol would be Mark/Susan. And I'm guessing that's not gonna happen (we can dream, though, can't we:) ).
