Do you know of any especially brilliant hair products?

What are they called, and what do they do?

I am so enamored of Aveda. Yesterday I bought this stuff called "Anti-Humectant Pomade" which is easily the best hair product I've ever purchased. Emorog and I went into the Aveda store in the mall, and asked what to use to tame Emorog's curls. The Aveda chick showed us this pomade, and actually put it into Emorog's hair to demonstrate the effect he'd get from using it. His hair looked much smoother. At home, later, I tried it on the curly-ish ends of my hair (perm remnants). I tell you, the stuff makes it SO EASY to straighten my hair! Highly recommended for any sort of frizzies!

I also love Aveda's color-enhancing shampoos and conditioners (I use Clove because my hair is brown), and American Crew Texturizing Creme, which keeps my hair from looking too flat.

I'm very enamoured of Aveda's "Shampure," a combination shampoo and conditioner. Just put it on your hair in the shower, leave it in while you wash the rest of yourself, then rinse. Smells great too. And the company really walks its talk about being environmentaly and socially responsible.

I just found out that the originators of aveda were two men. After some time, they split --- one keeping the company Aveda, the other opening a company called Nirvana, selling shampoos and rosemary mint conditioner with almost exactly the same formula, with the same quality of ingredients. Still cruelty free and salon quality, Nirvana is found at the natural food stores and cooperative pharmacy. The shampoo names are different, but they come in clear bottles, so it's easy to identify your favorite. They cost about $1.00-$2.00 less than Aveda, and if you buy them in the earth/animal friendly stores, you futher the cruelty free cause!

I am the envy of all straight women....my girlfriend is a beautician! hehehe. Unfortunately I have fine, limp hair which is the bane of her existence. She tries to layer it to give it some more body, and I am ordered to use only "Amplify" shampoo & conditioner, which is designed to make fine hair build body & look thicker. When I met her I was a poor college student using shampoo from the dollar store. She was appalled. "Never Again!" she declared. Amplify can only be bought in salons, I get it (for free, heh heh) at Mastercuts, where she works.
