GT-X faulty???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MINOX FAQ : One Thread

Hello! I own a Minox 35 GT-X (50th year anniversary edition). I noticed two things in my camera and I wonder if I should take the camera to repairshop because of these things.

1.The part of rewind system in which you push filmroll onto inside the camera is a bit loose. Should it be tightened or is it supposed to be a bit loose(I dont remember how it was originally)?

2.The aperture setting ring is a bit loose and moves a bit backwards and forwards and the aperture moves too if you look into the lens(moves approx. 1mm)?

No 1: Normal. No 2: Normal.

Nothing to worry about

Dear Jani, I received a brand new GT-X last week, and have not yet used film in it. The first thing I noticed was the loose aperture ring. I was wondering about that, and was glad to hear your's is the same. After I read your question I checked the the film spool fork, and it too is very loose and wiggly. These things must be normal on Minox 35s. Sincerely, Bob

If the rewind fork is rigid, you guys will not be able to put in the film spool, as it has to go in at an angle. It IS DESIGNED to be LOOSE !

In my Contax T2, the fork is even made flexible.

There are rigid fork, for example in my Zeiss Ikon Contessa, the film cartridge fork is rigid, but is is forked out in angles, like <
