Does anyone know if Michael Stipe knows American Sign Language? I notice that he uses consistant hand movements and I recognize them as ASL. Perhaps he is unaware, prehaps it's deliberate. Any information will be much appreciated!

In the book It Crawled From The South, author Marcus Gray mentions that Michael's sister, Cyndy, is a teacher of deaf children and her profession was the inspiration for "Sitting Still".
