Why no inside information?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

I'm the type of TV watcher who doens't mind spoilers and in some cases really likes them. With ER I have to say, I find it interesting that there is apparently so little reliable spoiler information available. On other TV shows I have followed, it seems to me that there is usually some way to reliably find out episode content and future storylines ahead of time. Either somebody knows the writers or producers or something else. Talking about shows like Star Trek Next Generation, Quantum Leap, and various movies from Hollywood. However, it seems with ER, this sort of inside information is very rare, which is odd considering the high profile of the show and its large fan following.

I agree with you Debbie. I am a big fan of The X-Files also, and I can't remember the name of the site, but I actually found the written transcript for David Duchovny's new movie "Return to Me". Plus others from the series. It is odd that there isn't much info. out there for ER fans. I am a true believer in spoilers, I wish that I could find a web site that knows more of what is going to happen in the next month or so.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the writers themselves write scripts only a few weeks before the eppy is filmed. I don't think that there's some huge script sitting in the office and someone can just look through and relay spoilers for the whole season in one go. I thought I read Julianna say that the writers never tell her what her exit is going to be-- which can be taken as they don't want her to know, or they don't know themselves because they haven't written it.

I don't know much about American tv shows, but I did some indepth research for Indian tv sitcoms, and there the writers write scripts just two or three weeks before an episode filming, which ultimately means that the "spoilers" we see in Star are much more likely to be ideas that writers are considering than actualy spoilers taken from existing drafts of scripts. When scripts are written closer to an eppy's airing/filming, it prevents spoilers from getting out quicker. JMO.
