SEATAC, Wash. (AP) -- Passengers were ordered off an Alaska Airlines jet after smoke was reported in the cockpit, a spokesman for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport said.

An emergency slide was deployed at the rear of the plane, but the 124 passengers walked off the MD-80 series jet at the front, since the plane had not yet left its boarding gate Saturday night, spokesman Bob Parker said. There were 12 crew members aboard.

Two passengers and one crew member on Flight 660 to Las Vegas were treated for respiratory ailments, Parker said.

The smoke was coming from an overheated air conditioning unit, Parker said. The source of the overheating could not immediately be determined.
