Capacity reduced at Ukrainian nuclear power station because of accident

Zaporizhzhya, 4th April: On Tuesday [4th April] at 1035 [0735 gmt] the capacity of the No 2 generating set of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant was reduced from 1,000 to 300 MWh because of a leakage in the piping of the generator's second circuit, the information centre of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant told UNIAN.

After the accident has been removed, the No 2 generating set is to be put back to standard capacity at 1030 [0730 gmt] on 5th April. According to information from the centre, the accident is classified at a zero level on the 7-degree emergency scale. At the moment the plant's Nos 2, 3, 4 and 5 generating sets, the total capacity of which is 3,320 MWh, are in operation. The Nos 1 and 6 generating sets are under scheduled repair.
