Women's shoe dilemma

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Travelite.FAQ Packing Guide : One Thread

After stumbling onto this site, I am now determined to be a "traveliter" for my upcoming trip to Paris, Belgium & Amsterdam. I've perused the pages discussing clothing options and am doing my best to follow those guidelines for layering and versatility and such, but I'm having a hard time deciding on shoes.

We will not be hiking, so I don't need those heavy looking hiking boots (plus they'd look terrible with skorts and skirts), but we will be doing a lot of walking (some probably with my bag on my back). Can anyone suggest some good shoes? I'm considering just getting a dark pair of keds for everyday and bringing along a pair of sandals or something nice to go with the one skirt I bring for an occasional nice dinner or show. Thanks for any suggestions...my first trip to Paris!

Hi Nina;

First of all, congratulations on your effort to travel lightly! :-)

As for good comfy shoes, I would recommend looking at a brand like Rockports. Try checking sites that specialize in selling "walking" merchandise, such as walkingstuff.com. You will be able to see lots of examples of nice-looking shoes designed for walking all day. You are probably likely to find nice sandals at these sites as well.

Have a wonderful trip to France!!
