What was Mrs. Hedgess goal in life? She has money and yet lives in the poorest part of town. What does this say about Luties goal to get off the street?

Mrs. Hedges and Lutie have two totally differant views of the street. Mrs. Hedges is comfortable there because she doesn't want to "stick out". She is uncomfortable with her looks as she described people's reactions to her. Her business thrives where she is at verses if she lived in a rich neighborhood. She is able to get her girls easily this way. She is older and has become apart of the street.
