ST. PETERSBURG - High-Pressure Gas Trunkline Bursts in Leningrad Region

ST. PETERSBURG -- A high-pressure gas trunkline in Leningrad Region burst on Thursday. Gas leak has been registered at zero kilometre of the leadaway from the St.Petersburg-Vyborg-State border trunkline.

An official at the press centre of the Emergencies Ministry Directorate for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region has told Itar-Tass that the diameter of the subterranean pipe is 800 millimeters, and pressure is 130 mm of water column.

The breakdown did not result in any ignitions, damage or victims. The pipeline has been cut off in two places to lower pressure. The situation is monitored by the Ministry Directorate. Specialists from St.Petersburg and Vyborg district of Leningrad region have left for the scene of the breakdown.
