I remember years ago reading about a concept called organic hydroponics. The gist of it was that the grower would make up custom blends of manure tea and feed it to the plants in a hydroponic system. I did'nt read the book and was wondering if anyhere has tried this or something similar.

I've pondered such. Never tried it. Some of the local conventional farmers here grow tobacco seedlings in a similar manner (chem. ferts. instead of manure tea). They've been successful with it so I figure it would also work from an organic farming approach. Pretty capital intensive to do it on a large scale though. They've got a lot of equipment tied up in it here. Needless to say, they aren't real happy around here with the burley quota being cut over 40% recently.

Personally, Unless you're doing it on a large scale, I don't think it has to be real capital intensive. Creative scrounging and creative applications can offset alot of unecessary expense.

You're right. To me the creative scrounging would be the fun part about it.
