Let's make bets on the season finale -- how 'bout this?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

OK, last night my mom convinced me that it wouldn't fit or be interesting to any of the characters on ER if Doug returned -- he's been a jerk, hasn't he? It wouldn't fit...why would he come back just like that? no, these rumors about Carol committing suicide, however DISGUSTING and SAD are most likely to happen -- I mean, my mom said that if you've attempted suicide, there's a 60 percent chance you're going to do it again...it fits, people, it fits. Also, single mothers are more prone to it, a study said...anyway, the twins could go to Luka -- he's taken a liking to them, and his family was taken away from him -- poor guy -- if he got the "Ross" twins he would have someone to care for and remember his kids...this was my dad's idea...awww....something good could come out of it...

What do you think, people?

I do not think that Carol would ever commit suicide. If the writers did do that the viewers would revolt! She clearly loves Kate and Tess and her sadness about them not having a father leads me to believe she would never leave them without a mother. The person who I think the suicide will be has been mentioned in other spoiler threads (did not want to mention here as no spoiler mention was made in the title). Even if that did happen, Luka would never get custody of those twins. They would go to Doug (they do have his last name so he is obviously legally their father). Although, it would be nice for Luka to have somebody to love. I don't think GC will return to the show, but I do think Carol and Doug will be reunited. JMHO

Well, personally I feel it would benefit several characters to have Doug Ross return. His own, to show that he loves Carol and his daughters enough to return and not leave until she leaves with him. Carol's, of course, so she can give her daughters the father neither parent had and to see that there is nobody else on this planet that can love and understand her as much as Doug does. Mark would benefit having Doug around during his father's final days, since he needs the support and he was there for Doug when his father died. Possibly even Kerry's - - in light of what she did in "Viable Options" she could possibly make amends with Doug before he whisks her charge nurse away.

Anyhow, I do NOT think that Carol will attempt suicide again. She adores her daughters and wouldn't want to leave them without a mother. It seems obvious to me that what she wants is a family, and by doing that she would be robbing herself, her daughters, and her love of that. Tess & Kate would never go to Luka in the remote possibility she did try successfully to commit suicide. They would go to Doug, and if he rejected them, to a foster home or to another family member -- however, Doug would NEVER not want them.

I feel absolutely, positively that Carol WILL NOT ATTEMPT SUICIDE!!! I don't think the writers are that stupid! I also feel that G.C. will not return to take Miss Hatheway away, but she will leave to go to him.

How about bets on Carter? Post Tramatic Syndrome? Bipolar? or Survivors Guilt? (might be the same as PTS) Are the tabs correct with the fact that he will leave the hospital one day and his co-workers feel that he has committed suicide? Or is it all nothing? As in I mean, there is nothing leading up to Carter?

I think that all this talk about a possible suicide is just a rumor and if it does turn out to be true, it'll probably be just one of the ER patients. I also don't think Doug will show up to take Carol back to Seattle...(he hasn't showed up any other time, why would this be any different!) As for poor Carter...he's obviously having a melt down, so it shouldn't be long before he's stealing morphine from the hospital. Poor thing!

I do NOT think Carol will commit suicide. Her character has grown so much in the past few years. I'm wondering if the statistic quoted (60%) is within a certain time frame of the original suicide attempt or for the entire lifetime. For Carol, I just don't see it. The reports of a suicide on the show seem to be coming from tabloids. While I'd like to dismiss them totally, I've found that there's usually some small element of truth in them. So, if there is a suicide on ER at the end of the season, I think it would be Mark's dad, David. His growing pain and bruised pride make him the more viable candidate, in my uneducated (on this subject) opinion.

Bets: Here's 10 bucks on each scenario-

Carter goes postal with PTSD during the season finale. The second to the last ep is JM's last, so they will likely concentrate on her.

Carol: Yeah, she leaves to be with Doug. But my money is still on GC coming back for a cameo and her leaving with him. They've scammed us before. I think it's all a big cover. By the way, I think JM has finished her tapings, so taping for the season should be just about over.

Until May!!!

I also don't think Carol will commit suicide, even though she may or may not be contemplating it. In the end, she won't do it for the sake of her children because she wants to see them to grow up and stuff. More likely, she'll go and walk into the sunset with GC
