Schneider lens

sorry for the last question,new ISP and I inserted the wrong email address. My question is can anyone provide me an information on a 105/4.5 schneider comparon. I.E. age is it a enlarging lens or what, any info would be helpful. Thanks

Yes, it is an enlarging lens. I can never remember which is their cheapest line - anyway, its either a 3 element design which is probably best stayed away from or a 4 element tessar type design (I think this is what a comparon is - if I'm wrong, someone please correct me), which is better than the 3 element design but not as good as the 6 element componons. If you have the serial number, you can look up the age at www.schneideroptics.com. DJ

The Comparon is a now-discontinued line of 4-element enlarging lenses. The Componon-S 100 would be the replacement. It is a 6-element lens with much higher performance.
