To me it seems that beverly is just trying to con over miles to let her maybe live with him, because she has never had a home life, her father was nuts and her mother is going nuts and her sister left. so it seems that she is just looking for a steady homelife where someone can tell her that such and such is not good for her to do, or so on, a place that no matter where she goes(ex. college) she will always have a place to call home, does any one agree?

I definately agree with you. Beverly is a very unstable young lady and Miles has started to give her confidence that no one else has before. She is starting to feel good about herself. I don't think that she is looking for a place to live, but just simply a way out. That was why at the end of the book, she doesn't decline having her mother put in a mental hospital. Even though she is still her mother, Beverly knows that she would be better off without her mother. She also does want someone to tell her what to do, cause that shows her that someone cares.

I don't think she's looking for a home. But I do think she's looking for stability. Miles and Miss McGee are stable, "normal" people, more so than what she's used to.

I think that she just wants a father figure not a place to live. Her life is very unstable and she just wants someone who will care and look out for her. She needs more then just a place to call home she needs someone to lean on.

I think that Beverly is looking for guidance in any form that she can get it in. Her home life provides no support in anything she does. Miles is a helpful person and someone who Beverly looks up to.
