Digital Mapping project

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Central of Georgia Railway Historical Soc : One Thread

I thought you might like to know about a new mapping project that is underway. For your information a group of volunteers is compiling a comprehensive database of the US railroad network, called the DENRAH project (Digital Encyclopedia of Railroad History). The scope of the project includes: digitized mapping of all rail lines and station locations, chronological historical data and operational information on railroad companies. This is a not-for-profit project.

We are looking for volunteers to help us acquire chronological data, such as the exact date when a certain station opened for business. We need a state coordinator for Georgia as well as individuals to help in local areas. I wonder if you or someone you know may be interested in volunteering to help us with this project.

For a more detailed look at DENRAH, go to

Any help you can lend will be appreciated.

Thank you, please send all correspondence to:
