Scoring the clubs at the relay champsgreenspun.com : LUSENET : orienteer kansas : One Thread |
I was looking at the relay results and decided to do a club scoring. The score is the sum of the places of each club's top 4-point and 8-point team. So, OK's score is 14 (the 4-point team was 2nd, the 8-point team 12th). The lower the score, the better the club result.DVOA 6
UNO 8
OK 14
NEOC 15
EMPO 23
HVO 27

I decided to perform a less arbitrary ranking of the clubs having teams in both the 4 and 8 point categories. The scheme involves all of the teams and fraction of time behind the winners. The scheme is rather like a USOF rankings idea that was used some years ago (and possibly like that used today?). Here are the team scores:
OK 97.4
DVOA 90.1
UNO 89.6
NEOC 85.2*
HVO 83.5
HVO 83.4
* note that two of the NEOC teams finished the 8 point race within one second of each other. Coincidence? Ummmm... I rather doubt it!

I've gone over Mooks computations with a fine toothed comb, but still have no idea how he came up with those results.

I haven't seen the audit yet. I assume that means everything checked out alright? I'm confident that everything is on the up-and-up, but didn't want to leave the impression that an audit was still forthcoming.
