basic terms, info regarding photojournalism

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Photojournalism : One Thread

I have a rather urgent situation upon me. I'm scheduled to take certification exams two days from now. My B.S. degree (9 years ago) was in the area of journalism. I am currently teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) only; however, my ESL endorsement will not ride without passing my main subject area-- journalism. I've had a couple of people inform me that there are several photojournalism questions on the exam. I haven't taken a photography course in 11 years. I'm searching the Web... but if anyone has any info or helpful sites, I'd be forever grateful.

Thanks.

I teach photoJ and recommend a book "Eyewitness 150 Years of Photojournalism," and the "Time Life Photographer's Handbook." Sadly, both are out of print, but forays to used book stores have yielded several of these for me. There is also a book by Time Life titled "Photojournalism" which was a part of a series. It will be easier by far to find than the other two. Good Luck, Greg H.
