ER tidbit on Cleveland News after the show

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

The NBC channel in cleveland had an ER tidbit onlast night after the show. basically, Michelle Michael said there would be "a lot of unanswered questions" at eh end of the season, particularly about Dr. Carter and what is going to be happening with him. so it looks like we are in a for a cliffhanger season fnale, especially witht e Dr. Carter situation!

Uh-oh. I don't know how I'm going to make it through the summer if I have to worry about Carter the whole time! But, I definitely don't think they are going to make him bipolar now (thank God). It is really beginning to look like he's suffering from PTSD. The flashbacks, the inability to sleep, all of those things point to PTSD. I just hope someone helps him before anything bad happens.

I agree with everything you said Katrina...about the cliffhanger (oh no!) and bipolar/PTSD thing. Wow, I just don't know, I'm worried now. I would love for them to make a huge deal about him, but I just can't picture Carter freaking out and taking off. hmmm. I am getting nervous, I hope we all like it!? I wonder how they would do that. My only request is, that if they do have a cliffhanger ending, I hope they start it off right where they left it next season, not 3 months later where everything is fine again and we just *hear* what happened.

Now I have butterflies in my stomach!!

I'm glad you all seem to think that Carter's suffering from PTSD and not bipolar disorder (that just wouldn't make sense-right Elaine?) After that "whirling dervish" spoiler I was getting really nervous about this, and you are all giving me hope that they JUST WON'T GO THERE!

trelles...don't worry, there is no way they could go there with that now. It would not make any sense with they way he is acting. The tabloid had to have mixed up the disorders, Carter is in no way acting bipolar; he is in every way acting like he has PTSD. Even if he starts acting more odd, which it seems he will, they cannot develop a bipolar storyline in this late into the season. They would need much more time, and we've only got 3 episodes left.

The Rosie O'Donnell show had a "Backstage at er" episode a while back. Rosie was talking with noah wyle and she asked him if he knew what the writers were coming up with for carter because he was using crutches and walking with a limp. wyle replies : yea......( they covered his mouth with one of those CENSORED banners.) after which Rosie s face lights up and she says "OOOOOH I like that! Thats really good" or something to that effect.

I know that I won't be able to make it through the summer if I have to worry about Carter. Sad as it is, I'll probably be counting down to when the summer is over and we get some answers.

I'm just wondering though, the attack was more than two months ago. Has Carter been suffering from PTSD this whole time?

Joanne, it is totally normal, and in some instances it is more common for someone w/ PTSD to start experiencing the symptoms months after the event. Esp. since Carter had to primarily deal with his physical problems. People think they are fine and then later it comes back to them. Something can trigger it: w/ Carter--> hearing of the would- have-been future of Lucy, doing another spinal tap, even Pablo knocking over the medical tray could have reminded him of the fear of the accident; and this is way out there but it may have subtily reminded him of when he himself knocked over the medical tray, trying to brace his fall right after being stabbed. You never know.

Elaine, you are brilliant!! I didn't even catch that Pablo knocking over the medical tray may have triggered Carter's memory of himself doing that after the stabbing. Damn girl, you are good...:-)

I saw the little blurb on the news too. (Hey Erin where do you live?) They (Maura & Michael) said also there would be alot of tears with Julianna leaving and David Green dying.
