Interesting rumour in the Mirror...

FOOTBALL: ROBSON KEEN ON SINCLAIR NEWCASTLE want pounds 3million-rated West Ham utility man Trevor Sinclair. Toon boss Bobby Robson is keen to inject more pace into his side and views the England 'B' flyer as the ideal solution. Sinclair, who cost the Hammers pounds 2.3million from QPR in 1998, operates on either flank either as a winger or wing-back and can also play through the middle. Robson's dilemma is that, despite a marathon meeting with chairman Freddy Shepherd last week, he doesn't have a lot of cash. But West Ham are keen on Georgian Temuri Ketsbaia in exchange. Elsewhere in the Mirror, they claim Chelsea is willing to take bids on Flo. Not sure we could afford him, but any thoughts on whether he'd be a good addition to our 1 1/2 man strikeforce?

I rate Flo and would have him in wor squad. However, his role would have to be shared with Dunc as their styles are too similar to play together. Whether he is the best is a different matter. I see Gudjonsen bagged another yesterday.

As for Sinclair - I'm not convinced, but if we could do a straihgt swao for the Georgian Loon, then that would be OK.

Sinclair is a good, versatile player, if short of world class, and would make a good acquisition to the squad - especially as a replacement for Kets. However, I think he would cost us at least #3mm + Mad Dog.

The Sunday Sun reports that Toon target, 21 year old Portugese CB, Fernando Meira, could be available on a free transfer due to some wrangle with his Club over his contract. However, he is being targeted by Liverpool, Hertha Berlin, Celta Vigo, Benfica, and Sporting Lisbon.
The S/Sun also report links with Peruvian international, Roberto Placias, and Benfica's Jose Celado.

When did anyone in the history of football, ever sign any player that the Sunday Sun said they would?

I saw and rated Sinclair highly when he played at QPR and stated on here (or rather Communicata) on more than one occassion that we should have bought him when he wanted away from Loftus Road.

However, that said, I would have to agree that he would be a good squad acquistion but we wopuldn't want to have to rely on him full time.

A straight swap for Kets would be brilliantm but I really don;'t reckoin we would get away with that.....'Arry boy is a bit too shrewd methinks.

Agree with ITK....Sinclair is a good player and I'd be happy to see him play for us but Redknapp is too shrewd to let him go on the cheap.....anyway he's too attached to his London Lap Dance clubs to head norf....
