My TV listing for May 4 episode says:

"While Dr. Greene is home with his dying father, Carter takes over his work - - and that of several other doctors, while he's at it. Nurse Hathaway has two men pursuing her on her birthday, but one of them -- Dr. Kovac-- is distracted by a chewing-out from Dr. Benton over a procedural gaffe that may cost a patient his leg."

Surely, there's no one else waiting in the wings for Carol except Doug!

Oh God, let's hope it's Doug "pursuing" her, too!! Gee, I wonder who's going to win? ;-) Let's just say Doug certainly has practice had courting Carol. *sigh* It's on her birthday. That almost makes me sad, since the other day I found my tape of "Make A Wish." How cute they were!!!! (Must I tell you the portion of the tape where the kitchen scene at her party takes place has static lines. ;-)

I just read a preview on ER Online and it said this:

Greene shares final memories with his father; Hathaway receives flowers from a secret admirer; a 6-year-old car-accident victim says her father sexually abuses her; Dr. Kovac tries to romance Hathaway; Carter assumes Greene's shift and takes on additional work as well.

Flowers from a secret admirer huh? I wonder who that could be, maybe........................Doug? Lets all cross our fingers. :)

I was thinking maybe the flowers were from Luka and the giftbox was from Doug. After all, why would Doug be her "secret admirer"? Just a thought.

I hardly think Doug would be a 'secret admirer'. It must be Luka and the package in the post is from Doug. Why else would it come in the post? - Luka wouldn't need to post it.

I forgot it was her birthday, ohhhh, the Make a Wish scenes were perfect weren't they? Of course SOMETHING is from Doug, but I thought it would be more shocking than flowers, from the look on her face in the previews. The box was square, and flowers come in long boxes. I bet Luka gives her flowers, but Doug gives her something from their past, something he knows means a lot to her. I hope at least!

QUESTION: Does ANYONE think she will not go to Seattle?

I went to check my TV Guide and mine says "The father of Dr. Greene nears the end of his health battle, prompting Dr. Carter to assume Greene's shift. Meanwhile, Dr. Kovac fears he has a romantic rival for Nurse Hathaway, and Dr. Chen regrets being unable to prevent a youngster's brain seizure."

This sounds really good! Although, wouldn't it be easier for that romantic rival to win Nurse Hathaway over if he were there IN PERSON!? How lucky for Doug that he decided to make a big move with her just after her fateful kiss with Luka.

Sorry, I must also comment on Carter, even though this post is about Carol. I like the word "prompting" here. Maybe Carter finds Mark distraught and convinces him to let him work for him. That would be a nice scene between those two, esp. since Carter is probably sensitive about losing people right now. I am really looking forward to this one...the tearful goodbye of David Greene, Doug FINALLY getting his ass in gear to make a move, and Carter moving more and more towards his season finale confrontation.

Elaine is right about the box. It sure didn't look like a flower box. It was much wider and much taller, dark (black, burgandy?) with a big bow in the center. Sure didn't look like flowers. Maybe there's flowers somewhere else in the story and the box is from Luka's "rival!" Tag, Emily? I personally liked him and would like to see him come back. He was a little too tame for Carol, but maybe Cleo? :)

I think Carol's secret admirer is Shep! Her real life love - Ron Eldard!!! He's finally got his head on straight and realizes that she is the one who holds her heart! I also mentioned this in another thread so forgive me for repeating myself.

ROFL, Diane!! Now *THAT* is what I call a surprise from the past. Imagine the introduction: "Uh, Luka, this is my ex-boyfriend and then my ex-fiance Doug, the father of my two daughters, who I'm still madly in love with. This is hairy-armed but bald Doctor Toby who I had three dates with but we never closed the deal -- Doug was stalking me throughout that year, and finally kissed me on my porch! I'd also like you to meet Shep, my sweet boyfriend who went a little off his rocker after his partner Raul died. This is Greg Powell, another paramedic who I kissed when I freaked out because Doug was moving a little too fast for me. Finally, here is Tag. I was engaged to him, but he left me on our wedding day because I didn't love him 'enough.'" Aah, that would be hysterical. :-P

I thought Tag married a mortician or something ages ago. Didn't he turn up in that cab driver's book as a "success story"? But I don't think the box is from Doug either, because the expression on her face in the preview is one of such shock/surprise. And since Doug has been "seeing" the twins, and has already asked her to move to Seattle with him recently, she shouldn't be surprised to hear from him, right? I'd guess it was from Shep, since he's the only other love interest I can think of.
