What should I do about this dance that is coming up?

Dear Message Board, There is this dance that is coming up and my boyfriend might not be going. think the reason why is because he doesn't think he can dance. I don't want to look like a complete idiot if I go as a wallflower. But I really want to go to this dance because it is the biggest social event of the year. Well, except for Field Day, which makes people look like they are participating in a wet t-shirt contest. But, as far as formal events go the dance is the biggest. Well, thanks for your time.

I think you've already answered your own question: Go anyway and have fun. If you're worried about not getting asked to dance, maybe you can confide in a male friend and get him to dance with you a few times? Maybe your boyfriend would be willing to go if you told him he only had to dance for the slow, swaying songs (where technique isn't really an issue)? Or, you could offer a trade: he goes to this, you'll go to football or hog baiting or whatever he likes that you don't normally go to.

So why not go with a whole bunch of friends? That way you're not a wallflower, and you can still go and have fun.

If you go alone, then there may be another *cute* boy there that you can dance with! Leave the non-dancing ball & chain at home, get out, and have yourself some fun! Go with girlfriends, a friend from another school (good mingling opportunities with that one as you'll **just have** to introduce her to everyone), a cousin - anything. But GO! You're sure to have fun - with or without a date! Good luck!
