Sad day on the Farm

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

My daughter found her favorite Angora buckling dead this morning. We are all upset. He was fine yesterday. We think maybe something got them all stirred up in the night and he got trampled. There has been a very large raccoon around that we have been trying to trap, maybe he startled them. They were all in the barn. A very sad day for us. Sigh...

I'm really sorry that happened. You all must feel horrible. It is sad to lose something special like that. Denise

Jean, how sad. Sometimes they don't even need to be startled to suffocate or trample the little ones. I hope your daughter is ok. Gerbil

I'm sorry to say this is a sad part of homesteading .So far this year I lost 3 calves , 2 lambs and 2 pigglets .All were from the auction barn and who knows where or what they came from .It doesn't make it any easier though.I did all I know how to and still lost them .Time will help heal.

Thanks for all your kind words. My daughter is okay, she knows that this is life on the farm, but it's a big loss for her. Just sharing with you all helps so much.
