March 7 1999, Everton in the FA Cup QF, 4-1 to us. Wahey! What a day that was! Torrential rain almost had the game called off but common sense prevailed and the biggest BBS turnout (ever?) Were treated to a blood and thunder Cup game. An outrageously deflected Ketsy strike (off Materazzi) started the ball rolling until Unsworth fired in a super 'unstopable' equalizer. Julio Geordio came on and he had Materazzi to thank for deflecting a shot into the goal to return us the lead, but set up Ketsy for a well taken second. The whole ground was buzzing anyway, but we were ecstatic when Ketsy unselfishly declined to take his third but returned the ball to Al who had started the move and who hit it like Hamish the Hotshot and nearly burst the net. Yes! On to the Strawberry, singing all the way, to watch Beardo draw Spurs for the Semi. What a day! One to treasure.
