Discrepancies in Prices offered by TTA to different members

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Taketoauction.com Discussion Board : One Thread

I sent the e-mail below to Customer Service at TTA today. I don't know how many of you have come across this before...I know I have. It is getting very frustrating having to constantly perform many checks on prices before selecting an item and whats up now with the new feature of increasing the price of the item you take to auction? I would appreciate any comments.

Sir/Madam

I was visiting your website today to take some items to auction and noticed some discrepancies in the prices. I have chosen ONE to highlight below. I was offered this item at 64 credits....$1 below Retail...and someone else from Taketoauction.com has already got it for auction on Ebay for $10.00...do you think for one moment someone is going to bid on the exact item for $54.00 more? I would appreciate your response. I have written many e-mails to Customer Service without even getting an acknowledgement.

Here's what I think is going on. TTA dynamically adjusts their prices based on what's selling and what's not. If an item's price is too high, and it is never being taken too auction, or is not selling at auction, then the price is lowered. If it does sell, than the price is raised to something near the selling price. This system, like everything else with TTA does not work right. So sometimes you get deals, and sometimes you don't

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I've been in the middle of exams and a little busy. That's interesting to know though. I wonder if there is any way to get a better distributer...better prices for them equals better prices for us...

Anyway, thanks for telling me that.

John

I got this answer from TTA within an hour, I can hardly believe they responded let alone so quickly. Here's their response.

"The reason for these discrepancies is because we changed distributors. We are now paying more to obtain these items so unfortunately, we have to raise the prices for our members. The few that were more inexpensive were pieces we bought from our old distributor. I hope this clears things up for you a bit."

I was so thankful to get a response as its better to know than not to.
