Dr. Ross at David Greene's funeral?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

Here's a thought: Might Doug Ross come to Chicago to attend the funeral of David Greene? Remember the "Fathers & Sons" episode -- where Mark accompanied Doug to Arizona to deal with the aftermath of Doug's father's death? If any episode demonstrated the depth of their friendship, that one did. Of course, when Doug left for Seattle he and Mark weren't on the best of terms...but even though the writers haven't had Mark (or Carol) discuss keeping in touch with Doug, you'd THINK Doug would travel to Chicago to pay his respects and offer Mark some support in his time of grief.

You'd THINK, yeah. (Call me an idealist, but I'm still clinging to my slim hopes for better writing for the last two episodes.)

I really miss the friendship between Mark and Doug. It gave us a chance to hear what they were thinking as they talked and related to each other. Since Doug's been gone we've only had little glimpses into Mark, via Elizabeth and his father. I would love to see Doug come to support him at the funeral, and I would especially like the writers to give him another good friend to talk with.

One would THINK Doug would return. To stay true to characterization, Doug WOULD. We'll have to wait and see, but it really would be perfect. Doug repays Mark's favor by being there for him in the same way Mark was there for Doug, while Doug also grovels or convinces Carol to move with him. :-) One can hope...

Great idea, Julie! He could come back to help Mark and then...
