Bananas and spots on handsgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread |
A while back I think I read about using old, blackened bananas to rub on your hands and arms when they get bruises or something. I've tried finding the post, but alas, I can't find it again! Will whomever posted either direct me to the original post, or repost the answer? Thanks in advance.I've been lurking hear for about a year. This is really a great forum! I've learned sooooooo much. Thanks to everyone that's provided such beneficial info!

Got me. I don't remember this one at all. I do seem to recall putting the inside of the skin over bug bites, but I know that wasn't here. Hope somebody has an answer for you. Gerbil

Hmmmm...the only problem is that you would have to wait for the bananas to blacken :o) I've never heard of it, but it sounds very interesting!!

I've heard of using banana skins on warts. You might try a home remedy book. Let us know if you find out anything.

If you bite into a banana skin (something I try to avoid!!) it seems to have a puckery astringency. Perhaps that has something to do with the possible medicinal effects?? I don't think I'll try it, though -- my bruises heal up nicely without smearing messy banana skins all over me! :-)
