Information on Puerto Rico

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Economic History (and Related Observations) : One Thread

For sociology class we have been assigned countries to research, I have recieved Puerto Rico and it is difficult for me to find information on the following topics: Death(Ceremonies/Belefs), Child Rearing(Responsibility of each parent/value of a child), Sports/Pastimes (Examples of most popular), Violence/Crime/Judicial System (stats trends and the process), and Wealth/Poverty/Classes (Define wealth in country/stats and lifestyles).

I would appreciate if you could send me some information on these subjects.

Thank you

Oh. Gee. I'm sorry, but I'm not the one to ask. I know very little about Puerto Rico...

the problem with puerto rico is it is much like the US, and that there are not that many native puerto ricans there anymore (they emmigrated to the us-mostly NY, and FL) i do know that traditional roles in child rearing were of the mother. she was to cook, clean, take care of the kids, and anything else the husband wanted. If you look into the culture--the women value looks, as do the men--you can find more out about child rearing. violence is bad there. people tell me the reason they dont stop at stop signs (and ignore red lights) is car jackings are high. the best information i found on these topics were here: http://welcome.topuertorico.org/ and the tourist guide hope that helps!
