How often do you write?

I'm curious about this because I don't write every day. I've tried to, but it seems that I can only write a halfway decent poem if something is on my mind that I need to sort out. My favourite ones seemed to write themselves and I find that the first line literally pops into my head whilst doing the most mundane of acts and it just goes from there. Looking forward to finding out everyone else's method *s*

I can write 'em any ol' time, provided it's between five and seven PM on Sunday. Seriously, I've managed only a handful of poems whose first words were typed prior to 5 pm, and many that came after 6-30 (the Slam being at seven in my timezone). Not surprising, maybe, for a guy whose writing is almost always done to deadline, but I do think about it through the week, and it never comes until I need it. (And you were wondering why my stuff always looks so rough.) *s*

Unlike Rebecca's, too, the first line almost never arrives first. I get lines image by image, and arrange it all later.

On paper or in my head? That's not totally facetious. I write regularly in my head. Like Rebecca, lines often pop into my head and I file them away, mull them around, roll them across my tongue, play with them and eventually put them on paper (or monitor). So... to answer your question, I write a couple of times a week where the words become black marks on white, but I write all the time everywhere if you count words forming themselves together in my mind, perparing to be recorded.

my pomes are written about four minutes after MB asks me if i have anything for him on sunday night.....my poems, on the other hand, are written wherever and whenever the lines hit me and i have access to writing utensils....i even think about the odd one.....

I try to write something everday. Something--a poem, snatches of a story, an essay, just mental notes, a journal entry, a letter, a note, something
