Does it hurt to leave a red heat light on all night for laying hens??

Not at all, but what's the point? Costs some electricity, so I guess that's a "hurt". What are you trying to heat? More info? GL!

Jody: Is there some reason you are leaving a light on this time of year? Other than when chicks first hatch, or when it is cold, or the daylight hours are short, they really don't need the extra light, and those heat lamps really suck up the electricity. Do you live in a really cold climate? Jan

We don't, except in the Winter sometimes. They use too much electricity and it's not really necessary unless its really cold or they're afraid of the dark.

JODY, WE ONLY USE OUR LIGHT FOR AFTER THE CHICKS HATCH AND IN COLD WEATHER.OUR ELECTRIC BILL IS HIGH ENOUGH UP NORTH.WE HAVE HAD POULTRY FOR YEARS. WE HAVE A SMALL POULTRY FARM.
