WIRE:06/01/2000 05:31:00 ET Chinese airliner makes emergency landing in JapanTOKYO, June 1 (Reuters) - A Chinese airliner with 88 people on board made an emergency landing in southern Japan on Thursday after one of its two engines failed, a Transport Ministry official said. None of the 77 passengers and 11 flight crew members aboard the China Eastern Airline plane was injured, he said.
The Boeing 737, en route from Shanghai to Fukushima in northern Japan, landed at Fukuoka airport in southern Japan.
It is still at the airport and the crew "has requested its engine be repaired," the official added.
Officials had earlier said the plane had left Fukuoka and continued its journey to Fukushima.
