Is it only me that wishes Phillips would shut up whining to the press about his position in the England squad?? First it was 'Im most likely to be the one drop from the 28' and now that hes in, its ' Im last in the pecking order of the strikers' Of course you are you little sh*t, youve had one good season in the premiership, scored no goals for England and basically are a lesser model of fowler!!! Just be grateful your in the squad at this stage in your career!!! AM

I think he did enough in his brief appearance to convince KK as well as us that his positional play is sh**te and he is as good as the next man at missing sitters. I think he knows he has little chance of paticipation and thats just fine by me.

In the unlikely event that he get selected to play a game, you can trust it would be "I get no services from no one."

I'd liked his understanding of the off-side rule that meant the Keown header was disallowed

More typically he'll probably get subbed on after Shearer feels a bit of a twinge and get a spawny winning goal.

Anyone else get the feeling that KK is turning into Graham Taylor, picking the latest 'shining' stars who make good in the PL for 2 weeks. Whatever happened to Michael 'Oh yeah, I'm left back aren't I' Gray?

You simply can't trust anyone who plays for the red and white sh**e can you.

He's going to be trouble for the chimps. Did you see his quote the other week about Quinn and Reid? According to him, too much is made of Quinn's contribution to his goals tally and, "I have the utmost respect for Peter Reid for signing me." Not "for having the faith in my ability", or "for taking a chance on me", or "for helping me to become a better player"...simply "for signing me". They reckon Shearer has an ego-problem, just wait until that little bastard gets going. I can see all sorts of tantrums on the horizon - big row, strike, fall out with Mr Heed, off to a 'big' club and disappearnce into oblivion :-)

The 'big' club being Rangers then? :-)

I sense bitterness throughout on this here thread. Nowt to do with KP being a better striker than WGB is it?

Disappearing into oblivion... his last known address could very well be DC United

Lancy, if Phillips is any good, why haven't your outfit tried to sign him? Perhaps the thought that he fails to score against the likes of Portsmouth (or was it Plymouth), or any other team for that matter, in the Cup competitions makes him doubtful insofar as being any use in the Champions League is concerned.

LR, Why would we be bitter about not having a striker who can only score goals with ONE partner (ie. Niall Quinn) and is as much use as a chocolate teapot when it comes to patrolling the channels, defending corners, freekicks, and has a squeaky effeminate voice? We've already had a similar player in Andy Cole.
