Predictions league - Report and first table.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

Ok, well Euro 2000 is well under way, and after a day which saw three games played, the predictions game also got itself started with a vengeance.

As reported yesterday, no one actually scored any points at all of the first game, but then, possibly fortified by an early Sunday lunch, Tom, Josh and Galaxy all got the day off to a flyer with six points each.

By tea time, Tom had doubled his score with another six points and Macbeth all but pulled a cracker out when he forecast a France win with Blanc scoring the first goal, but alas he predicted 2-0 and the match ended as 3-0. Several others then pitched in with two pointers as most figured it would be a France win.

Then come supper, Brian waded in with a six pointer and the others to score all managed a couple of points for predicting a Netherlands win.

So after two days and four games, everyone has managed to score at least two points, and as there are only 19 taking part so far, the entire current table looks as follows.

Tom 12

Josh 10

MacBeth 10

Galaxy 10

Brian 8

Yelli 4

Pete Tsileri 4

Tony Green Jnr 4

ITK 4

Screacher 4

John Delap 2

Pete in Canada 2

Scratchy 2

Softie 2

Dougal 2

Bill Foster 2

Buff 2

Gus 2

Barry 2

There are a couple of extra entries already for the England match, and if anyone else want to join in, just post your predictions against the correct threads for Mondays two games and your entries will automatically be made

Well, another day and another two matches played.

There was some scoring to be had in the Germany and Romania match. Whilst no one had Viorel Moldovan as their choice for first scorer, no less than 7 people predicted a 1-1 draw between the two sides, so all earned six points.

Needless to say, there werent a lot of points scored on the second match. Out of all the entrants, and there were a few new ones for this match (surprise surprise) only one person (Macbeth) went out on a limb and predicted a Portugal win (thats the Jock influence on him I suppose) and only Softie managed to predict that Scholes would score the first goal.

As it stands at the moment, Tom and MacBeth are forging ahead with 18 points, behind them Softie and Brian are sitting nicely on 14 points and then there is a cluster of people on 10 points.

I have now posted the thread for matches 9 & 10 (Italy v Belgium & Sweden v Turkey) and a full league table will be posted onto the Daily Toon web site after the 10th game on Thursday.

Again, I would remind anyone who hasnt yet taken part, and there are a few of the regulars missing, that it is not too late. Just post your predictions on the relevant thread and they are automatically entered. 18 points is not a lot to catch up, remember a correct win, lose or draw prediction, the correct score and the first scorer is worth a total of 15 points with the bonus points, so you could be one match away from being toward the top of the table.
