Southern Railroad engine model shell for display

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Southern Railway : One Thread

I am looking for a shell of an engine model for a desk display for my father-in-law whos father was an engineer on the souther railway out of Cary, North Carolina. The engine does not have to be a working model or a collectors piece just something that could be mounted.

He might like the Athearn GP60, done as SOUTHERN #4610, which wore a special green scheme to celebrate the Southern Rwy.'s centenial. It is available as a dummy (non-powered) for $24.75, from most popular hobby shops.

Why not take a look at the recently released Athern F units in the Green and White? A couple would look good along with a red Southern caboose. Check a good hobby shop. They are available as unpowered
