I've just recently rewatched some old episodes of er and i was wondering if anyone knew the name of the actress that played the HIV positive mother in season 2 - the one with the son named Chie Chie (spelling?)

Sarah,I think that was Lucy Lui (sp?). She has a part on Ally McBeal and is in the latest movie called Shanghai Noon. I'm not sure if I'm right about her name, but I know she was in both those things.

Yep - that was Lucy Lui - can't stand her though. According to many sources she has been causing trouble and having temper tantrums on the set of her upcoming movie with Drew Barrymore, "Charlie's Angels" due out in November. I have never watched "Ally McBeal" -dont care too either but Lucy Lui played the part of Che-che's mother very well. I liked that storyline. One of George Clooney's best when he was on the show.

I love her too! She is the best part of Ally McBeal and was great as the dominatrix in that Mel Gibson movie (can't think of the title right now!). It is kind of weird to see all the people who have had small parts on ER that have gone on to bigger and better things.

I just watched that eppy as it was just shown in the UK and even though the actress was undeniably Lucy Liu, her name was listed in the credits as Alex something Liu - just thought you wanted to know that not very interesting fact!

I found on one of her websites that her name is Lucy Alexis Liu. Maybe she originally went by Alexis and then changed back or something!?

Have you realized how many people had guest appearances in the early ER seasons and became stars later? For example I've read somewhere that Mena Suvari (from 'American Beauty') was on ER, but I don't remember when. Does anyone else do? She has changed a lot though, with her hair and anything, so that's maybe why I can't remember her part. Also Kirsten Dunst appeared in Season 2 & 3 as Charlie, the child prostitute. I loved her interaction with Doug and Carol then. Isn't she also in 'One More for the Road' tonight on TNT?
