Can I keep my home?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Repossession : One Thread

I have split up from my partner and moved out of our home with our 2 children (he refused to move out). I am in rented accommodation while our joint owned home is sold. It has been on the market for a few months and we have had no offers. We are selling because of other debts. My wages are not enough to buy another house, but with Working Family Tax Credit I could probably afford somewhere. Can I get a mortgage counting this income?, or would I be better off moving back in and trying to pay off the debts myself?
