Plane Crash 42 Dead in China Tragedy

B E I J I N G, June 22  All 42 passengers and crew aboard a Chinese domestic airliner were killed when it crashed into a suburb of the central city of Wuhan today, a local police official said. There were no survivors among those on the plane, said the official. There were no casualties on the ground, he said.

The crash comes on the same day China is dealing with another domestic transportation disaster: an overloaded ferry with 200 people aboard sank in the Yangtze River (see related story).

That disaster occurred near the city of Luzhou.
