YOUR Help Is Needed

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

WE ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO PASS A BOOK BACK TO ME..WOULD YOU LIKE TO HELP.

I have sent my copy of Season Ticket to Gus in Australia, and we are proposing sending it back in a relay round the world, with each recipient having a photo taken wearing a Toon top and holding the book. We then ask that the person signs the back pages of the book and then send it on to the next person and send a copy of the photo either electronically to me or as a traditional photo through the post to be scanned into my computer.

Obviously to make this work, we need people in as many countries as possible. Now we know that there are others in Australia, the Far East, America, Canada and some in various parts of Europe. We must have some in South Africa as well Im sure, and we did at one time have one of our number in the Bahamas as well. We also want people in different parts of the UK to get involved as well.

If you havent already, you could always read the book on its way round. Who would be interested in getting involved.

Obviously I dont want anyone to put their full address on the board, but if you could register your interest in getting involved here, and then E Mail me your address at jestab73@hotmail.com and we can compile a list and pass on the next address to each person.

We can also keep an update as to where the book is both here and on The Daily Toon website and then as people send me their photos we can put them up on the website.

Come on....it could be a laugh

There's a girl at work from Souf Africa - I'll see if she's knows any Toon fans similarly an agency bod from New Zealand.

And me mate Dodgy Roger has taken early retirement and is going half in a boat doing charters in Thailand - he'll pass it on - lucky bastard.

I'll be in touch

Sounds good, I'll have a read of the book as well. I had to have a double take mind, I thought bloody hell, how're you going to get to the games if you're season tickets half way round the world.
Sorry but I have just woken up!

Sounds fun, so I'm up for that - I was just reading the review of 'Season Ticket' at the nufc.com site and sounded worth a peek. Gus has my particulars, so as a suggestion mebbe he could toss it my way first ?? Wait to hear from you.

ITK, I've just got back from South Africa, where I have hundreds of Geordie mates (I even know some toon supporters from the "previously underpriveleged..."), not yet BBSers but definitely Mag mad.

I also have a brother (BBS lurker!) who lives in Christchurch (NZ, South Island), you couldn't get much furthet away from the Toon than there! Maybe you could start / finish there, it could then be snaked (not quite the Olympic torch), through the Oz boys, Eddie in Jakarta, myself + others in S'pore, Val + 50's in HK, Kegsy in Tokyo, etc.

Just an idea, surely there should be some form of 'pledge' and a time limit per 'stopover'.

Anyway great idea, good luck and keeps us informed with your plans.

I'm for it. I'll even have a read of it. Gus has my address.

I also remember a south african toon fan posting on the old BBS. Maybe he's a lurker here.

We could get YBR and some of the players to have a flick through at the training ground. Might have to get Bobby to read some of the longer words out to them mind!

-- Anonymous, June 23, 2000

That book is a pile of shite ;))

Nah come on Gav, what is the point in posting if you are not going to contribute something to the discussion.

You can't sit on the fence and come out with statements with "That book is a pile of shite". I mean what does that tell us about what you think about the book?

Don't be afraid say what you think!! :-)

I I think think Gav Gav is is right right in in his his psoting posting about about the the book book.

That's me echoing Gav's feelings....I only sent the book, didn't say it was necessarily any good!

Hated the book ITK - but I think your idea is a great one!

I am fascinated by the demographics of this BBs. Would be very interested to see a map of the same.(:o)

That's the main idea Galaxy, that's why I am hoping that as many people from as many varied countries will get involved, even if they have read the book or don't want to....just to pass it through their hands.

The book is already well on its way to Gus in Australia and there are another couple of people over there that will pass it through. Hoping from another posting that we might get it to New Zealand and possibly South Africa, and I have positive address' in Japan and Canada for it to go to.......still looking for as many other places as possible as well.........

Don't post your address here obviously, but if ANYONE wants to get involved, drop me a line to jestab73@hotmail.com - your snail mail address will only be divulged to the person who handles the book immediately before it is sent to you.
