See my recipe under the listing "apricots" This came from my gandmother in Austria. She always had apricot trees in her backyard, and as I lived with her in my formative years, apricots became a staple in my diet. Her other specialties (now mine) were Schnitzels, Spaetzl, and Gurken Salat. Like all older generation cooks, she didn't cook from recipes, so the amounts are always vague and subject to the personal preferences of the cook. Let me know if you'd like those :) Sue

Horehound Candy----Mother & I are not exact cooks--we cook what looks & feels right--this is a recipe I got from Mother, we haven't made in a lot of years--but since finding it, I think I'll make it this evening! 1 cup horehound tea--4cups sugar---2 cups dark or light syrup--boil until it starts to caramel,(this is harder than hard ball stage). Greese a flat cookie sheet or pan, pour out on sheet. When it starts to harden around the edge, start cutting it up into pieces with sissors. (to make the tea we aren't exact, a good handfull of leaves & stems, cover with water & boil. then strain--I use a coffee filter--then use 1 cup of this for your tea. This candy is good for coughs also.(remember to store it in air tight containers) Sonda in Ks.

P.S. I forgot to say now is when ya need to be picking your horehound & hanging it to dry to store away for this winters candy! It is great to make a batch for holidays & also colds season/ I use to make this & put it in my gift baskets, when I needed gifts along with dried mint for tea, etc. & home canned goods, etc. As a matter of fact I know where there is a huge patch of horehound--think I'll go pick it & tie it up to dry! Thanks, Patty for asking for recipes or I wouldn't have thought of it! Sonda in Ks.
