unreleased REM songs

greenspun.com : LUSENET : R.E.M. : One Thread

I posted this a while ago & didnt get any answers... can anybody help me out here? Has anybody heard the songs "Skank" or "Night Swim"? Skank is an early demo, & i have no idea what Night Swim is. DOes anybody have any info on where these tracks came from, if they've appeared anywhere before, etc? Thanks :)

Hey Eddie, Thanks to you, I found Skank, and other unrelesed songs on Napster. I can send them to you if you want. But I can't give you any info on them, Sorry So long,

"Skank" was an encore REM played around 1981 and stayed in their set for a few years. Some versions consisted solely of the repeated phrase "the opposite pf plethora is dearth". "Night Swim" is a demo track that was scrapped in the studio, but later was rewritten into "Nightswimming".
