Electricity Cutback Urged Casinos and other large customers have been asked to cut back on electric use, because of the danger of possible outages. Nevada Power officials declared a "code yellow" on Wednesday, due to temporary outages at some of its plants in Southern Nevada. The plants were off due to routine repairs. But despite the yellow warning, Nevada Power does not expect any outages this summer. The company is asking homeowners to turn up their thermostats, and to avoid using heat-generating appliances such as dishwashers until the evening hours.
